Scan and share Wi-Fi QR codes on Android
Since Android 10, every phone can both read a Wi-Fi code and show its own. Here is where the buttons are on Pixel and Samsung.
Three ways to scan
- Camera app. Point and wait for a "Connect to network" chip. On Samsung, turn on Scan QR codes in the camera's settings if nothing happens.
- Google Lens. Open Lens (or the Lens icon in the Google search bar), aim at the code and tap Join network.
- Wi-Fi settings. Settings → Network & internet → Internet → Add network → tap the QR icon. This works even when the camera app has no scanner.
Share your Wi-Fi as a QR code
Pixel and most phones: Settings → Network & internet → Internet → tap the gear beside your network → Share. Unlock with fingerprint, face or PIN; the code and the password appear.
Samsung (One UI): Settings → Connections → Wi-Fi → tap the gear beside your network → QR code (bottom left). You can save it as an image.
Want one on paper for the fridge or a table? Copy the password shown on the share screen into the generator or the sign maker.
Android to iPhone
The Android share screen is a normal Wi-Fi QR code, so an iPhone's Camera app reads it directly. Have the iPhone user open Camera and point it at your screen.

If it won't connect
- Network name and password must match exactly.
- Code marked hidden when the network isn't (or the other way round) slows or blocks connection on some phones.
- Work profiles and some company-managed phones block adding networks from QR codes.
Questions
How do I scan a Wi-Fi QR code on Android?
Open the camera app and point it at the code, or open Google Lens. On Android 10 and later you can also go to Settings → Wi-Fi, tap the QR icon next to "Add network" and scan from there.
How do I share my Wi-Fi as a QR code on Android?
Open Settings → Network & internet → Internet (or Connections → Wi-Fi on Samsung), tap the gear or the network you are on, then tap Share or the QR code icon. Confirm with your fingerprint or PIN and the code appears.
My Samsung camera does not react to the code.
In the Camera app open Settings and turn on "Scan QR codes". Alternatively swipe down and use the "Scan QR code" quick setting tile.
Does Android support WPA3 Wi-Fi QR codes?
Android 10 and later support WPA3, and a code marked WPA also works on WPA2/WPA3 mixed routers. Use the "WPA3 only" type only when the router accepts nothing else.
