Wi-Fi QR code for Airbnb and holiday rentals

The first message most hosts get after check-in is "what's the Wi-Fi password?". A framed card by the door answers it before it is asked.

Exactly as it shows in your phone's Wi-Fi list. Capitals and spaces matter.

Want a folded table tent, a door sign or 6 cards per page? Open the printable sign maker.

Set it up in four steps

  1. Set up a guest network on your router if it has one, so guests never share the network your smart lock or cameras use.
  2. Enter that network below, then print the table tent or a framed door sign from the sign maker.
  3. Add the same code to your digital guidebook or check-in message as a PNG, so guests can join before they find the card.
  4. If you change the password between stays, reprint the card as part of turnover.

Tips

Two cards, two places. One by the entrance and one next to the TV or desk, where laptops and streaming sticks get set up.
Print the password too. Laptops, smart TVs and consoles can't scan a QR code. Keep the printed password on the card.
Smart TV logins. Remind guests to sign out of streaming apps at checkout; a line on the card works well.
Several units?. Use the bulk generator to print one labelled card per unit in one go.

Guests on iPhone or Android? Point them to the iPhone or Android guide if their camera doesn't react.

Questions

Should I put the Wi-Fi password in my Airbnb listing?

Airbnb lets hosts add Wi-Fi details to the check-in instructions, which guests see shortly before arrival. Many hosts do both: the details in the app and a QR card in the rental.

Is a Wi-Fi QR code safe for a rental?

Anyone who scans it can read the password, so use a guest network separate from your own devices and change its password when you need to.

Do I need a new code for every guest?

Only if you change the Wi-Fi password. The code holds the password itself, so it never expires on its own.
